Recently a series of 3 ODIs was played between India and Australia. Which Australia won 2-1. The last match of the series was played yesterday i.e. on 22 March at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Australia batting first scored 269 runs. In response, the entire innings of Team India was reduced to 248 runs in 49.1 overs. The Indian tour of the Australian team ended in a draw.
While the Indian team won the Test series, the Kangaroos won the ODI series. Now both the legendary teams will soon face each other in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC). Team India has suffered a major setback ahead of the WTC final. The team's reliable batsman Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the WTC final due to injury. In such a situation, former captain Virat Kohli's best friend seems to be getting a place in the team.
Ajinkya Rahane will return in WTC final
The final of the World Test Championship is to be played between India and Australia from June 7. The Indian team was already troubled by the absence of star wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and veteran fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. At the same time, a problem of Team India has increased further.
Shreyas Iyer, one of the most reliable batsmen in the team's middle order, has also been ruled out of the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) due to injury. In the last few months, Shreyas made his permanent place in Team India. In such a situation, his injury has become a cause of concern for the team.
They say that whatever happens, happens for the good. Here also something similar can be said for Team India. There is a saying in English 'Blessing in Disguise' which means good results of being bad. Shreyas Iyer's injury can also be a blessing in disguise for India. Experienced Ajinkya Rahane can be included in the team in place of Iyer. Because Ajinkya does not come in the team when Rahane Iyer is there.
Please tell that Ajinkya Rahane has been running out of the Indian team for 14 months. He played his last Test match for India in January 2022. Ajinkya Rahane's performance was also good in the recently held Ranji Trophy.
Great record on foreign soil
Ajinkya Rahane, 34, made his Test debut for Team India in the year 2013 for India. So far he has played 82 Test matches for India. In which he has scored 4921 runs at an average of 38.52. Which includes 25 half-centuries and 12 centuries. Ajinkya Rahane is one of those batsmen who have a better record on foreign grounds than on home grounds. Rahane averages 35.73 in Tests at home.
Whereas in foreign countries it is 40.28. There is a huge difference between the two averages. Rahane averages 42.09 against Australia as well which is quite good. If we look at the statistics and experience of Rahane, then after Shreyas Iyer's injury in the World Test Championship (WTC) final match against Australia, his selection in the team can prove to be the right decision.
